Technology is everywhere in K-12 classrooms, yet questions remain about whether it’s making a difference. At this year’s briefing, we will release new Speak Up findings from more than 95,000 K-12 students, educators, administrators, and families in rural, urban, and suburban schools. The 2025-26 data points to three significant outcomes of effective classroom technology use, each tied to what K-12 education should be accomplishing today.
The program includes:

Research findings presented by Dr. Julie Evans, CEO, Project Tomorrow

Keynote remarks from Dr. Melissa Shields, Assistant State Superintendent, Office of Student Learning, Alabama State Department of Education

Remarks from Dr. Chad Stevens, Head of Growth & Partnerships at ClassDojo
This year’s briefing will spotlight a panel of students from rom Alabama, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and California , sharing their honest, unfiltered take on how technology can best support learning. You do not want to miss this awesome opportunity to hear from this

About the Speak Up Congressional Briefing
Each year, Project Tomorrow presents Speak Up survey results with key K-12 stakeholders including education departments, researchers, media, and school leaders. The first Speak Up Congressional briefing held on March 24, 2004 and sponsored by Rep. Johnny Iskason (R-GA) and Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), released the report “Voices and Views of Today’s Tech-Savvy Students,” and launched SpeakUp Day for Teachers.
Speakers included Rep. Isakson, Sen. Stabenow, NetDay Board of Directors Member John Gage, and Senior Advisor at the Department of Education, Helen Soule. Middle and high school students from the 2003 survey joined a panel discussion and Bell South’s Chief Staff Officer Mark Feidler, announced corporate support for the initiative.
Since 2020, the Congressional Briefing has been conducted virtually allowing for broader participation. We thank our partner, edWeb, for hosting this annual event.
