About the Speak Up Congressional Briefing
Each year, Project Tomorrow presents Speak Up survey results with key K-12 stakeholders including education departments, researchers, media, and school leaders. The first Speak Up Congressional briefing held on March 24, 20004 and sponsored by Rep. Johnny Iskason (R-GA) and Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), released the report “Voices and Views of Today’s Tech-Savvy Students,” and launched SpeakUp Day for Teachers.
Speakers included Rep. Isakson, Sen. Stabenow, NetDay Board of Directors Member John Gage, and Senior Advisor at the Department of Education, Helen Soule. Middle and high school students from the 2003 survey joined a panel discussion and Bell South’s Chief Staff Officer Mark Feidler, announced corporate support for the initiative.
Since 2020, the Congressional Briefing has been conducted virtually allowing for broader participation. We thank our partner, edWeb, for hosting this annual event.
