FAQ:
How is this resource free? In return for their sponsorship, the SOS Foundation receives aggregated national data to better understand student perspectives on school safety across the country. This helps inform their mission of supporting schools with safety infrastructure and response capabilities. However, they do not receive any individual participant information or school-specific data—those insights belong exclusively to the participating schools and districts.
Why is this national survey important today? This national survey gives district leadership timely, student-driven insights to better target safety policies, build trust in reporting systems, and prioritize resources where they’re needed most.
How is our student information protected? Project Tomorrow ensures student privacy by collecting no personal identifying information and only sharing aggregated Speak Up survey data.
How long will it take students to complete this survey? The survey takes approximately 12 minutes to complete.
Can students complete it at home or does it have to be completed in school? Yes, students can complete the survey at home, as many districts share the survey link via email or post it in their learning management system announcements.
How long will the survey be open? The survey is open through June 12, 2026.
What data will we receive from this survey? You will receive your local data as well as the national comparative data.
How can we use the data to enhance or improve our student safety concerns? Use the survey data to identify perceived gaps in safety, evaluate student trust in reporting systems, assess drill and training effectiveness, gauge confidence in safety leadership, and evaluate student-recommended safety solutions.
