Small Data, Big Impact: Using Evidence to Drive Innovation in Teaching and Learning

March 21 @ 11:15 am - 12:00 pm
How do educators and leaders identify the right data—and use it to lead meaningful change? In this hands-on workshop, teachers and school leaders will explore how key data points, when connected to teaching and learning, can support innovation, inform strategic initiatives, and strengthen leadership decisions. Drawing on CALIE’s statewide work and Project Tomorrow’s research, participants will examine how evidence—both qualitative and quantitative—helps make instructional impact visible and guides forward-looking action. Rather than focusing on tools or dashboards, this session centers on identifying the data that matters most, connecting it to classroom practice, and using it to support and advance instructional and system-level initiatives. Participants will also learn how engaging in CALIE’s statewide survey can provide actionable insights for their own context while contributing to a broader understanding of effective technology use across California. Post-session opportunity: Continue the work by connecting with others to identify a shared problem of practice and collaborate in follow-up sessions focused on using evidence to support innovation, leadership, and sustained improvement.
