3rd Annual Innovation in Education Summit:

Preparing Today’s Students to be Tomorrow’s Global Citizens

Rescheduled for October 24th, 2008

Due to the continuing unsettled nature of the California state budget and the potential impact of the impending deep cuts into Orange County K-12 district budgets, we have decided to reschedule our 3rd Annual Innovation in Education Summit for Friday, October 24, 2008. We are making this unprecedented decision in respect for the very difficult situation currently facing our Orange County schools and districts in terms of sustaining staffing and programs.

We believe that in this challenging time it is critically important for our regional and state education, business, and community leaders to focus 100% of their energies on finding resolutions to this budget crisis to ensure that all Orange County students receive a “second to none” high quality educational experience. While the focus of the annual Innovation in Education Summit is on discussing new ideas and solutions for improving science, math and technology education, we did not want this annual convening to be a distraction from the serious immediate challenges facing our communities and school districts today.

"The Innovation Summit has given me insight as to what I can do with science, math and technology. Sparking an interest is what will get students started in science and math courses and also will make them continue on."

Project Tomorrow, in collaboration with the American Electronics Association (AeA), hosts this annual  Summit of the education, business, community, political, and parent leadership in Orange County to discuss and evaluate the challenges and opportunities for improving K-12 science, math, and technology education.   The goal of this half-day summit is for the participants to formulate key strategies they can work on together to ensure that Orange County graduates are prepared for the 21st century.

The Summit program includes keynote addresses from national education and business leaders, panel discussions with local students, parents, educators, business and community leaders, and roundtable working sessions so that each participant has a voice in the process.

The Innovation in Education Summit is unique because everyone’s voice is equal….students, corporate representatives, parents, principals, teachers, and government officials; each person brings their ideas to the table with the goal of increasing dialogue (and action!), for improving science, math and technology education for all students in Orange County.

October 24, 2008
9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Tiger Woods Learning Center
Anaheim, CA

Registration fee is $75, which includes all materials, hot buffet breakfast and lunch.

The Summit is a unique opportunity to communicate directly with other community stakeholders…. that is, business representatives can speak directly and openly about the needs of Orange County employers for 21st Century Skills in our graduating high school students.  Conversely, teachers can brainstorm ideas on how to incorporate these needs into their curriculum and practice.
